Odd Interactions

In June 2025, we gave a one-day workshop at MetaLab in Vienna (Austria) as an introduction to the practice of Odd Interactions.

The focus of this workshop was to intentionally create unconventional interactions to explore the benefits of interaction beyond the touchscreen.

The workshop resulted in seven outcomes. 1) Toe control allows your toes to control your extra limbs (by Reini), 2) Nail polish uses nail painting as a way to control an instrument (by Mascha), 3) Blowing messages sends messages across the table through blowing, 4) Cable sound uses weaving cables to create musical scores, 5) Headbanging measures your head bangs and gives you a cocktail if you do it well (by Zwax), 6) Coat and scream turns off the light in your home when you get dressed and scream because you are in a hurry to leave, 7) Run and scream also turns off the lights when you run screaming out of the front door (by Navi).
